PROFILE: Photographer, David Shama

The simplicity, rawness, and spontaneity that comes through in this Swiss-born photographer/documentarian’s work are the qualities that I was immediately drawn to when I met David sometime last year.  In a time where so much of fashion photography has become this scary mess of over-styled, overly contrived, way too over conceptualized work, David is a naturalist at heart and believes in the small moments that make up a grand and beautiful scene.  The dirt, the sweat, the grime…and the pretty girl with sad eyes and a determined smile – these are the moments David captures on film through his travels and editorial work while at home in Paris and New York.  Here are some highlights from his portfolio and a few from his story featured in photogenicsMAG Issue No.5. – M -
